In 2019, FOHEC asked Western Michigan University administrators about their plans for the five remaining buildings of the East Campus National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) District. Now de-listed as a District due to being reconfigured or “deconstructed" in the name of energy efficiency, the remaining buildings’ character and potential still drew our interest. However, WMU administrators were unwilling to commit the university to the preservation and continued uses of all of the buildings, describing one of those remaining (Vandercook Hall) as "...not occupied and not maintained”.
